Introducing NavalHill.com
Landmark. Brand. Brandmark!

Naval Hill is situated in Bloemfontein, the capital of the Free State province and birthplace of JRR Tolkien. Bloemfontein, the City of Roses, is part of the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, with Botshabelo and Thaba ‘Nchu completing the list of main towns within Mangaung. As judicial capital, and one of South Africa’s three capitals, Bloemfontein’s population is nearing 345 000 souls, with the total population of Mangaung hovering around 650 000, and counting.

What do all these names mean?

Bloemfontein [Dutch / Afrikaans] – flower fountain or blooming fountain | Mangaung [Sesotho] – place of the cheetahs | Botshabelo [Sesotho] – place of refuge | Thaba ‘Nchu [from the Sesotho Thaba Ntsho] – black mountain
